Victoria County Democratic Party Officials

County Chair-Kelli E. Gill

Kelli has lived in Victoria since the age of four and became interested in Democratic politics while attending Victoria High School.  Following graduation from the University of Houston Victoria, she hit the ground running in the 2008 Presidential election.  Following political and campaign training by Annie’s List at EMILY’s List in Washington D.C., Kelli served as the Deputy Field Director for State Rep. Ellen Cohen’s successful re-election campaign in 2008.  Upon return to her hometown, Kelli’s passion for politics and serving others led her to run for County Chair of the Victoria County Democratic Party.

Recording Secretary-Doris Obsta

Doris comes from a long line of Democrats.  When Doris and her husband married, Robert was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad.  In working for the railroad, Doris’s livelihood was protected by a labor union.  Doris fondly recalls how the union was the means of fair pay and benefits for Robert and all railroad workers.  Having been active in Democratic clubs and organizations her entire life, Doris lives by the Democratic philosophy that she is her neighbor’s keeper.  In addition to working with the Victoria County Democratic Party, Doris serves as the Secretary of the Victoria Democrats Club.

Party Treasurer-Joe Painter

Joe has been an active member of the Democratic Party his entire life.  Having served as a Precinct Chair in Victoria County for the past 30+ years and as an Election Judge for over 19 years, Joe is widely thought of as a cornerstone of the local Democratic Party.  In addition to his experience organizing voters within his own precinct, Joe served as the President of the Victoria Democrats Club in 2004 and was the 2006 recipient of the Gene Laughlin Award.  A former Chemical Engineer, Joe brings his analytical mind and proficiency with computers and programs to analyze voting trends for the Victoria County Democratic Party.
