County Convention Information

The Texas Convention and Delegate Selection Process this year will skip precinct conventions and begin on April 21, 2012 at County Conventions.  The Victoria County Democratic Party’s County Convention will be held at Liberty Academy (former VHS campus) located at 1110 Sam Houston DrDoors will open at 9:30 am.

Delegate Selection Plan

The Texas Democratic Party updated its Delegate Selection Plan to accommodate the changing election dates and to keep our state convention on June 8-9, 2012. Attendance Requirements

The conventions will be open to any qualified voter who signs an oath of affiliation with the Democratic Party. Signers cannot vote or participate in another political party’s process during this election cycle.

 Victoria- The Victoria County Democratic Convention will be held on April 21, 2012 at 10 am, Doors open at 9:30 am at the Liberty Academy Cafeteria (former VHS campus) on 1110 Sam Houston Dr. The convention will be open to any qualified voter who registered to vote at least 30 days prior to the convention and who signs an oath of affiliation with the Democratic Party. Because of the changes to the election schedule, the Texas Convention and Delegate Selection process this year will skip precinct conventions and begin at County/Senatorial District conventions. 

“We encourage all Democrats of Victoria County to attend the Democratic Convention and make their voice heard,” said Victoria County Chair, Kelli Gill. “Individuals who want to represent our area as delegates to the Texas Democratic Party State Convention should attend.”

The delegates and alternates elected at the County/Senate District Convention then go to the State Convention. The State Convention will be held on June 7, 8 and 9 in Houston, Texas.  Delegates and alternates elected at the State Convention will go to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina which will be held September 3-6, 2012.

“As one of the largest and most diverse delegations in the country, the TDP will make certain that all voices of our broad constituency are heard at our National Convention,” said TDP Chair Boyd Richie.
